F.A.Q.
How long are the class lessons?

For most courses, class lessons are 90min or 75 min each.

How many classes/lessons are in a course?

The number of lessons depends on the Course Length Option you select: (Essentials, Mastery, Premium).

Generally, courses consist of the following:
Essentials - eleven 90 min lessons -or- fourteen 75 min lessons
Mastery - fifteen 90 min lessons or eighteen 75 min lessons
Premium - twenty 90 min lessons

There are some classes that have different compositions. Most notably, foreign language classes usually consist of more total lessons and more total lessons time (even though each lesson tends to be a bit shorter - 60min or 75 min)

When do semesters/trimesters start and end?

Courses are offered on a rolling basis, so if you want to start your course in mid-May, you can start it in mid-May. There is no need to wait until the fall for the next semester to start.

What are the different course length options (essentials, mastery and premium)?

The primary difference between any of the class options is how many class lessons are in the class. The best thing to do to ensure that you have the right course length for you is ask your professor for a recommendation based on your background and your needs. In that case the sequence of events would look something like this:After you book a course, you will be meeting with a customization specialist, and you inform the specialist as to any course length preferencesYou meet with your professor, inform them of your background and any customization requests and ask them which course length best suits your needsThe professor reviews the curriculum and lets you know the best course length for you. For the students, there are several reasons to take longer class length options. Here are some common ones:

- To develop an even higher level of mastery of the material
- To add substantial amounts of prerequisite material to the course
- To add additional advanced material to the course
- To allow for even more personal support throughout the course There are also several reasons to take a shorter class length option. Here are some common ones:

You already know some of the material and therefore do not need to cover it again as part of the course.

Some of the material typically covered in this course is not relevant or as valuable to you, so you would like to omit it from the course.

Better accommodates more modest budgets

Do I receive a transcript and certificate upon completion?

Yes. You will receive an official Myelin Course Certificate and a transcript for the course. Upon request, the course can be tailored to detail certain key achievements in the course so that you can more easily highlight the particular skills you developed to companies and organizations.

Can I take a Myelin course as part of my tuition assistance/reimbursement program at work?

Yes, you may have a course paid for or reimbursed by your work assuming that the policies of your particular organization allow for it. If your workplace is unfamiliar with Myelin, we suggest either asking the representative from your organization to contact us at sales@myelincourses.com or you can email sales@myelincourses.com and provide us with the contact information of the individual(s) at your organization that you would like us to reach out to in order to get your course approved for tuition reimbursement/assistance programs.

Do courses have prerequisites?

At Myelin, we believe that students should not have to slug through a a slew full-length prerequisite courses and course curriculum requirements that prevent you from taking the courses you're truly interested in (the way that traditional universities do). At Myelin, we aim to put students into the heart of compelling courses as quickly as possible, enabling them to grow their careers and businesses in as efficient a way as possible making the most of the time you invest. Consequently, most of the courses listed on the Courses page do not have prerequisites. Many courses integrate the prerequisite information into the beginning few lessons of the course, making the certain courses accessible to students years before they would qualify to take them in a traditional university setting. For example, a number of math, physics and economics courses require a small amount of calculus that can be covered in the first few lessons to any student who has completed algebra 2. A few courses do have significant prerequisites, however, such as multivariable calculus (calculus required). When you meet with your professor, you can discuss your background and your objectives for the course and the professor can let you know which Course Length Option would suit you best (Essentials, Mastery, Premium). If you do not have an adequate prerequisite background to achieve your goals with just this class and refer you to a recommended prerequisite course.
